Jim has been a construction and trial lawyer for 40 years, and for the past several years he’s expanded his practice to serve as a neutral mediator/arbitrator. He currently chairs the firm’s trial department and construction and mediation/arbitration groups. While a large portion of his work is in the construction arena, he enjoys handling business disputes as well as any type of tort or professional liability matter.
For the work Jim does it is important to be able to connect with everyday people, whether it be a contractor, a small business owner, or an individual professional. It’s also important to connect with a judge or jury using plain English. He strives for these connections so that his clients understand their legal situation in a practical manner, and so that their interests are advanced most effectively. Acting as mediator, this enables Jim to relate to ordinary people to gain their trust and help solve their problems.
Outside the firm, Jim enjoys his family first, starting with his two adult sons, Cameron and Jordan. During the summer months, this means regular trips to the family cottage in “Waikiki” Wareham, including sailboat excursions to the sandbar. In the colder months, this often involves making home-cooked meals (with a glass of red wine at the ready) and regular gatherings around the big TV for Patriots games.
